Arbor Acres Hires Four New Senior Leaders

Arbor Acres Retirement Community is pleased to announce the addition of four new employees to our senior leadership team.

  • Elizabeth Byrd will serve as Vice President for Health Services and Chief Health & Wellness Officer. Byrd comes to Arbor Acres from The Sharon, a faith-based not-for-profit life plan community in the SouthPark area of Charlotte, where she served as Vice President of Health Services and oversaw all health-related services. Byrd joined The Sharon in 2001 as a Recreational Therapist and took over as Administrator in July 2020 before her promotion to vice president in 2022. Byrd is a recent graduate of the Larry Minnis Leadership Academy. Byrd replaces Kathy Gwynn who retired after 22 years of service.
  • Brent Campbell has been hired as Senior Director of Sales and Marketing Arts. Campbell worked as a Marketing Specialist at Arbor Acres for several years before being called to serve as Chief Communications and External Relations Officer for the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Public Schools. Campbell brings to this role a wealth of experience in sales, marketing and communications as well as a deep understanding of the local community and a passion for Arbor Acres. Prior to his first tenure of employment at Arbor Acres, Campbell worked as the Bureau Chief and Fill-in Anchor for WFHP/Fox 8 as well as working in sports marketing or Wake Forest University. Campbell replaces Lynn Ross who retired after 22 years of service.
  • has joined Arbor Acres as Director of Philanthropic Arts. Halsey came to Arbor Acres following years of service at the Winston-Salem Foundation where he held numerous roles, including Director of Community Engagement, Director of Philanthropic Services, and Senior Philanthropic Advisor. His experience in fund raising and planned giving and knowledge of and appreciation for the local community are invaluable assets. Halsey replaces Denni Peebles who retired after 10 years of service.
  • Shonette Pettiford is the new Healthcare Administrator for licensed healthcare, including assisted living, skilled nursing and memory care. Pettiford is a licensed nursing home administrator and registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She served as a critical care nurse at UNC Hospitals, a hospital charge nurse, staff development director, assistant director of nursing, as well as director of nursing at a life plan retirement community in Chapel Hill. Pettiford replaces Hannah Yoon who left Arbor Acres to pursue other career opportunities.
