Arbor Acres Appoints Seven New Board Members

Arbor Acres United Methodist Retirement Community is announcing the appointment of seven members to its Board of Directors:

Dudley “Chan” Chandler
– Dr. Chandler is a retired periodontist. His practice was in Winston-Salem. Dr. Chandler and his wife are also residents of Arbor Acres. 

Florence Corpening
– Ms. Corpening is the retired Executive Director of the Gateway YWCA in Winston-Salem. She has served on numerous nonprofit boards and has also worked as Chief Operating Officer for the United Way of Forsyth County.

William McGuinn – Mr. McGuinn retired from the Air Force and went on to serve as Senior Banking Executive at First Citizens Bank. He retired from First Citizens in 1997 and has since served as the Chairman of the bank’s Board of Directors.

Steve Reeder – Mr. Reeder is the Vice President of Human Resources with BB&T. Mr. Reeder has more than two decades of retail banking and management experience.

James Rousseau - Mr. Rousseau is the retired Vice President of Community Relations and Development at Forsyth Technical Community College. He has served on numerous boards and committees including the board for the Housing Authority of Winston-Salem.

Susan Schwartz – Ms. Schwartz is the Executive Director of the Greensboro based Cemala Foundation. She has worked with numerous nonprofits including Action Greensboro and the Community Development Association.

Steve Virgil – Mr. Virgil is an attorney and Professor of Law at Wake Forest University School of Law. His law practice has focused on community economic development and nonprofit organizations.

Arbor Acres Board of Directors members are elected to serve terms of two years. They may be re-elected for two additional terms at the end of which it is mandatory to rotate off the Board. After absence from the Board for at least one year, an individual may be elected to another term as if first elected.
